First Lady Beverly A. Powell

Beverly A. Powell a native of Jersey City, New Jersey, is a woman of grace, poise and power. As a wife, mother, sister, psalmist, entrepreneur, mentor and First Lady she is passionate about people and kingdom building. Her passion is to lead women closer to the heart of God, help them embrace their value and purpose in Him, and inspire them to live intentionally for Christ. She has been married to her husband, Bishop Stenneth E. Powell, Sr. for over 30 years. They have two adult children, Stenneth Jr. and Joshua and a granddaughter, Ayanna whom she loves and adores, all residing in Raleigh, NC.

As the First Lady of the North Carolina Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction she understands the invaluable role she plays within this area of ministry. She graciously mentors and inspires other First Ladies first by example and secondly with her wisdom and knowledge. She desires to encourage, support and empower other First Ladies to support their husbands in ministry and the vision God has given them. Outside the ministry you will find her giving back to the community ensuring she is making an impact. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding service in ministry and within the community. In 2011, she was presented with a Humanitarian Award for her personal commitment to community awareness through empowerment, strength, unity and solidarity by the SFYJ Organization (Sisters for your journey).  Her genuine love for interacting with people led her to study Psychology at Ashford University. As you can see, her ministry extends beyond the four walls of a church edifice and impacts the lives of women nationwide via mentoring, singing, teleconferences, and social media.

Ministry is not new to her. In fact, being the youngest of three her roots in the Church of God in Christ were established. Today she diligently serves alongside her husband, Bishop Designate Stenneth E. Powell, Sr., as the Executive Administrator of Abundant Life Christian Center COGIC in Raleigh, NC. First Lady Powell, as she is affectionately called by Abundant Life congregation, possesses the passion and the anointing to impact the lives of women nationwide to develop a kingdom mindset and a heart to serve. As the Bishop’s wife, she is also the First Lady of the NC Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the COGIC where she actively mentors and offers support to other First Ladies.

Lady Powell captivates her audience and inspires them to step into God’s purpose for their life. As an intercessor her life style includes a dedicated time of prayer, fasting and studying the word of God enabling her to intercede daily for the people of God. As a psalmist she ministers in song with an anointing that destroys yokes. As a mother her children rise and call her blessed. As a wife she is able to complement her husband’s ministry by supporting the ministry God has birthed in him.  As a visionary, she has birthed many dreams to expand God’s kingdom.

She is the founder of the Vessels of Honor Women’s ministry which is one of the core ministries within Abundant Life that caters to the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical needs of the women. As a fashion connoisseur, she gave birth to a life-long dream of owning a specialty boutique for women, A Woman by Design and presently she personally shops for distinguished clients. Today she is a highly sought Fashion Consultant who takes pleasure in building confidence within a woman and helping her improve her self-image by understanding the value she possesses within then teaching others how to look the part externally. She understands that we are ambassadors of Christ and should also strive to represent the kingdom of God well.
